Wait, Watch, Worship: A Lent DevotionalEgzanp

Watch (from blind to seeing)
Wednesday – 18 days before Easter
John 9:1-15
In this story, Jesus used a strange process to heal the man born blind. Jesus surely had the power to simply say, “Be healed. Your sight is restored.” Instead, he used spit, mud, and water to demonstrate his power. We don’t know all the social and cultural significance these things had for people back then. Reading it today, what do you think about Jesus’ healing methods in this story? Why do you think he didn’t heal the man immediately, on the spot? What seems significant about this scene?
