Righteous Passion
Where does your passion lie?
As we are fasting, we are saying “no” to worldly passions and inviting God to renew a passion for HIM. In John, it says that passion for God’s house will consume me. Does your passion for God and His house consume you or are you consumed by worldly passions? Maybe you aren’t feeling passionate at all. Ask the Lord to show you where have you grown apathetic. What does He care about that you don’t care about? Where has your heart become hardened? Do you have a heart of stone? Fasting and denying our flesh isn’t enough if we aren’t replacing what we are giving up with more of God. Ask Him for His passions today.
Prayer: God, I set aside all of my own desires and all my worldly passions. I only want to have passion for You. Let zeal for You and Your house consume me. I repent for being apathetic and not caring about what You care about. Remove my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh. Fill me with righteous passions and deliver me from the desires of the flesh. Amen.
