One of the most important decisions that must be made when a new missionary begins his or her journey is choosing a missions agency, also referred to as a sending organization. Ultimately, the Holy Spirit is the one who sends us, but there is also validity in having sending organizations and ministry partnerships. This dichotomy is evident in the commission of Paul and Barnabas, where the text says that they were sent on their way by the Holy Spirit but also that they were sent by the church in Antioch. Modern missionaries also need ministry partnerships.
