If you have ever been to an apple orchard, maybe you can imagine the rows of trees with their branches covered in apples. Do you know what branches in an apple orchard have in common? They are attached to the tree! If you cut a branch off of a tree, would you expect it to continue to grow fruit? Of course not! This may seem like common sense, but this is often how we live when learning about God. For example, you can show up to youth group every week, but if that's the only spiritual habit you have, your spiritual health might look like that branch that has been removed from the tree.
Jesus talks about "fruit" in the life of a Christian, which is the "evidence" that they have a relationship with God. Things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. The best way to produce fruit in our lives is by being connected to God when we spend time with others, use our gifts, spend time with God, and share our stories. All of this helps us produce fruit that points others to God.
