Theme: The End of Fear
Crisis Converted Then:
The prophet now makes a comparison between Abraham and the Israelites. Just as God called Abraham from ancient Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq and Syria) and brought him to the land of Canaan, so God will bring his people back from exile in Mesopotamia (Babylon) to the Promised Land, their home.
Crisis Converted Now:
Our fear can flee, because the same God who welcomed us from our sinful past in the dark corners of our world is the same God who walks with us today, even in our valleys of the shadow of death. He provides the strength we need. He helps and holds us up with his powerful hand. God is the end of fear.

This study from Isaiah 40-55 explores our identity as people affected by trauma but living in hope. In the exile, God’s nation had to find new life when their old life had been completely overturned and destroyed. Similarly, we now find ourselves trying to “return to normal” in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Yet, God can take any crisis and convert it for his glory and our growth.
