Filled With The Fullness Of God

The Lord gave the disciples an instruction, “Make the people sit down”. What lessons can we learn from this instruction of our Lord Jesus?  

1.  There is order in the ways of God (Mark 6:39-40, I Corinthians 14:40, 14:33).  This is the ethos of God’s kingdom and not confusion. Planning, goal setting, management, execution are all part of the life in His kingdom. We as representatives of His kingdom must communicate the ethos of order in every aspect of our life.   

2.  The second lesson was that in distributing the bread and the fish, the disciples would have a ‘hands on’ experience of the miracle. They would also have the opportunity to interact with the people and explain God’s wonderful ways to them.  The role of the lad would also be shared to the crowd, which would be an object lesson by itself. The Lord makes us be co-workers with Him, in His ministry.  

3.  What does God desire for us? The lessons that the Lord teaches us in life, as was being taught to the twelve disciples in this incident, are intended to build us to be strong and mighty in the inner man (Ephesians 3:16-21).  God desires that we be filled with all the fullness of God.
