Never AloneEgzanp

Day 1: Never Alone
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). Matthew 1.22-23 NIV
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”Matthew 28.16-20 NIV
Matthew’s Gospel starts and ends with the same promise: Matthew wants us to see that everything Jesus did – even his name – was to show one thing. Through Jesus, God is with us.
So many things can get in the way of us remembering that Jesus really is always with us, but forgetting that he is, and believing we are alone, can make our lives so much more difficult.
We can notice an important difference between the beginning of Matthew’s gospel and the end. At the start, it is a prophet speaking about God being with us. At the end, it is God himself speaking directly to us, telling us that He is with us. Sometimes we try to live our relationship with God based on what someone else says about Jesus, and that’s ok…as a start; even the Gospel of Matthew starts there. But, transformation comes when we start to listen and hear Jesus speaking himself. We move from “God is with you” to “I am with you”.
We can still call Jesus ‘Immanuel’ because he is still with us just as he promised. We are never alone.
