Selecting the Right Board Egzanp

Selecting the Right Board - Part I
A wise man once told me, “It’s easy to put someone on your board, but not so easy to remove them.” His point was that we should be careful when selecting leaders to serve on a board.
Fortunately, the Apostle Paul provided Titus and Timothy some wise direction in the attributes that should and should not be present in an overseer or board role. This week I would like to address some of those qualities, beginning with those qualities we should avoid.
Titus 1:7 teaches, “Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.”
It seems obvious, but someone controlled by anger, addictions or greed will not serve you well in an oversight capacity.

In the Book of Titus, the Apostle Paul provided some wise direction in the attributes that should and should not be present in an overseer or board role. We would do well to heed his wisdom when selecting leaders for church or business.
