Today as we continue our walk through the old testament, we will also walk with Matthew through his historical account of the life of Jesus. We do this, because we want to remember that all of Scripture is about Jesus, he is the one the Old Testament foreshadows...as you read in the Lenten season, leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus (Easter), remember, this is history. It is all connected. You are connected as well! This happened. These stories are not fairy tails. Therefore, may the Spirit illuminate these words as you continue to reflect on your place in this story. Today’s prayer of illumination: Lord, open my heart and mind by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as I read these Scriptures and your Word is proclaimed to my heart, may I hear with joy what you say to me today. Amen.
