Today we begin 40 years of wandering with God's people throughout the wilderness, observing YHWH's faithfulness and provision in spite of Israel's disobedience and faithless grumbling. As you prepare your heart for today's reading, don't forget to pause and pray this prayer of illumination: Father, since I do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from your mouth, make me hunger for this heavenly food, that it may nourish me today in the ways of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven. Amen.
