Real Hope: Unchanging Nature Of GodEgzanp

GOD STILL SERVES US
This passage from Philippians is one of my favourites. It causes me to marvel at God’s kindness in being born in human flesh and walking in this broken world in which we live. It shows us that He, despite being God, would die on a cross in our place, so we might live. But it’s only recently that this passage has truly soaked in as I’ve realised that this passion to serve isn’t just from Jesus’ actions in one moment of time: it’s in His nature.
Hebrews 13:8 famously says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. This means that this amazing act of humility we read of in Philippians isn’t a change in nature of the God we read about through history. He was always pleased to serve His people, to the point of dying for us. And as we step through life, and the many changes that the world throws our way, this should bring us hope.
So, be encouraged. On days when we feel far from God, or when we feel like we don’t deserve His love, we can say (or sing) with confidence, ‘Yes! Jesus loves me!’ Because our God does not change – the Bible tells us so.
