No Shame

Jesus is the one who makes people holy, set apart for God’s purposes. “Those who are made holy” includes everyone who has put their faith in Christ, including you. If you have surrendered to Christ as your Lord, then he has made you holy, no matter what mistakes you have made. He still delights to call you his brother or sister. You are family.

Jesus doesn’t want shame to interfere with your growth. Shame can cause you to doubt your identity as a child of the Father. Doubt leads to a downward spiral and can derail your efforts to grow and become all God intends for you. So the Bible emphasizes that Jesus will never ever be ashamed of you; he boasts that you are part of his family. “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18). That’s the core of who you are.
