1 Timothy 4:16
“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
There is a natural tendency for our lives to drift into sinful behaviors and be distracted by teaching or ideas that distance us from the life of faith and discipleship This scripture reminds us to watch, to be alert and on guard over our choices, activities, thoughts and meditations. We are also called to persevere, to endure, to consistently live in such a way that our faith and our lives point others to know and love Jesus. What’s at stake is not just our own faith journey, but the lives of countless people who watch our lives, listen to us and through that observation determine if Jesus is worth following. For those who love Jesus, our faithfulness and sound doctrine will encourage them to remain close to Jesus and his word.
Lord Jesus, speak to my heart about any area of life or doctrine that needs correction for your glory and kingdom.
