Greatest Commission
Matthew 28:18-20
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
When we speak, act or serve in obedience to Jesus’ call, there is no authority in the heavens or on earth that is greater than the name of Jesus. When we make disciples of Jesus, we baptize them into the name of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. They (all disciples of Jesus) become filled with the life and Spirit of Jesus. We take on the name and identity and nature of Jesus as we are filled and baptized into him. Filled with the presence of Jesus, we learn to obey all that Jesus commanded. His very presence guides those who live this Great Commission.
Lord Jesus, I am challenged and humbled by your commission and promises for me. Fill me with your Spirit, with your faith, hope and love as I live out this call.
