Robust Love
Romans 12:9, 10
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
Love is not just an emotion to be expressed when relationships are healthy and the sun is shining. Love is expressed in sincerity, devotion and honor. Niceness can easily be confused for love. When niceness avoids our conflicts or pain in relationships, we lack sincerity. Devotion goes beyond comfortable to commitment. Devotion perseveres and pursues and doesn’t let go. Honor thinks of the needs and accomplishments of others above our own, and looks for ways to celebrate others. Sincerity, devotion and honor strengthen our expression of love and give it power!
Lord Jesus, thank you that you deeply love me. Fill me with your sincere, devoted, honoring love for others, for your glory.
