Loss Doesn't Get The Final WordEgzanp

God Is Big
No biblical character experienced loss like Job. Job lost everything: his wealth, his family, his livestock, all of it gone in a short time. Even his health started getting pretty bad near the end, and the hardest part about all this is that God allowed it to happen despite the fact that Job was a great guy.
Like with Naomi, the bible presents us with a complex situation that may leave us confused: How could God do such a thing? In fact, Job is confused too. When He searches for God in the midst of his suffering, he says, “Behold, I go forward, but he is not there, and backward, but I do not perceive him” (Job:31:8).
The scriptures show us God’s response, and in it, we are reminded of how big he really is. He reminds Job and modern readers that He is crafting something far more beautiful than we could ever imagine while also working things out for His glory and our good. Though Job’s story is complicated, it reminds us that we play a small part in a gigantic narrative that God has written. Even when things don’t seem to make sense, even when they’re painful and confusing, we can rest knowing that God will never lose control.
