WOW, GOD. YOU SENT YOUR SON FOR ME.

Experience

“For God so loved the world he sent his only son…” When I think about a parent with their child, he is their life, she their joy. He is the last thought at night and first in the morning. “I love her,” parents say. “He is my SON. They are part of me, and I feel all of their joy and tears. My heart rejoices when he learns something new. My heart is troubled when she’s confused. I know every bit of him and I think I breathe with him when I’m near him. I get furious when someone treats her unjustly.” The love felt is tangible. I’ve seen parents act irrationally to protect their children if they are in danger. 

But God gave His Son away. He sent His Son, His only Son, to us because He loves us.  This is when it all gets real. He was willing to do absolutely anything to get to us. So He did everything.

Wow, God. You sent Your Son for me.

It really is an incredible thing. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)  God sent Jesus, His Son, here to earth, for you. God loves His Son as much as we would love a son. In fact, He loves even more. God gave that Son to you. The amazing part is that He wanted to. God wanted to send Jesus because He loves you. God loves you.

God, show me how significant it is that You gave Your child for me. Amen.
