Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 3Egzanp

1426 BC Joshua has now led the Canaan campaign for 25 years. Before he dies at 110, he urges Israel to obey God. Without Joshua the Hebrews are not so diligent at clearing the land of pagans. Caleb captures Hebron and Debir.
Note 1: See Josephus, The Essential Writings translated by Paul L. Maier, page 83.
Note 2 (Joshua 24:25): The covenant was made at Shechem, a ridge lying between Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim where the blessings and curses were spoken (Joshua 8:33f), where Abraham was promised the land (Genesis 12:6) and where Joseph was buried (Joshua 24:32).
