Duh kojeg ste primili nije vas odveo u ropstvo da biste se morali ponovo bojati, nego vas je učinio Božjom djecom da po njemu zovemo: »Abba, Oče!« Duh zajedno s našim duhom svjedoči da smo Božja djeca. Ako smo Božja djeca, mi smo i Božji nasljednici zajedno s Kristom. No to možemo biti samo ako uistinu s Kristom i trpimo, kao što je i on trpio, da bismo zajedno s njim primili slavu. Mislim da su naše trenutne patnje beznačajne u usporedbi s budućom slavom koju ćemo primiti. Cjelokupno Božje stvorenje u čežnji očekuje vrijeme kada će Bog očitovati tko su njegova djeca. Svijet, koji je stvorio Bog, potpao je pod ispraznost, ali ne svojevoljno, već voljom onoga koji ga je podvrgnuo. Ali Bog je ostavio nadu da će sve što je stvorio primiti oslobođenje od ropstva propadanju. Ostavio je nadu da će sve što je stvorio imati slavnu slobodu Božje djece.
