Kad se spustila večer, došao je neki bogati čovjek iz Arimateje po imenu Josip. I on je bio Isusov učenik. Otišao je k Pilatu i zatražio Isusovo tijelo. Pilat je naredio da mu predaju tijelo. Josip je uzeo tijelo i zamotao ga u novo platno. Položio ga je u sasvim novu grobnicu koju je za sebe bio isklesao u stijeni. Zatim je ulaz zatvorio velikim kamenom i otišao.
