Zatim je Isus otišao iz grada i uputio se, kao i obično, na Maslinsku goru. Učenici su pošli za njim. Kad su se popeli, rekao im je: »Molite da ne podlegnete iskušenju!« I udaljio se od njih koliko se može dobaciti kamen. Kleknuo je i molio: »Oče, ako ti želiš, otkloni ovu gorku čašu od mene! Ali neka ne bude kako ja želim, već kako ti želiš.« I tada mu se ukazao anđeo i hrabrio ga. U svojoj je muci Isus još upornije molio, a znoj mu je, poput kaplji krvi, kapao s čela.
