Tamo se nalazila i proročica po imenu Ana. Njezin je otac bio Fanuel, a potjecala je iz Ašerovog plemena. Bila je vrlo stara. Sedam je godina bila u braku, a nakon toga je živjela kao udovica do osamdeset i četvrte godine života. Nije napuštala Hram te je posteći i moleći danonoćno služila Bogu. U taj je tren prišla Josipu i Mariji s djetetom i, zahvalivši Bogu, počela govoriti o djetetu svima koji su iščekivali da Bog otkupi Jeruzalem.
