Devoted: All Inનમૂનો

In today's world, it's hard to be ALL IN on anything.

Our attention is splintered into a million tiny directions. If you're a grownup, you can bet that distractions are waiting around every corner. Working to provide for your family or yourself, raising kids, saving for retirement, drinking enough water, getting your steps in, doing laundry, buying groceries, hitting your project deadlines–the list goes on and on.

But to be wholly devoted followers of Christ, something's got to give.

The psalmist gives us a glimpse of what that looks like in Psalm 63:1, writing, Oh God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

When was the last time you were that desperate for God?

Maybe your answer is never. Perhaps it's been a hot minute. But there is no time like the present to begin chasing after the King of Kings.

So how do we know that if we seek the Lord, He will even answer us? Check out God's promise in Jeremiah 29:13: If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

God is waiting for us to search for Him, seek Him, and pursue Him. We can't do it halfway, though, friends. We have to go ALL IN.

In this chaotic world, where seemingly everything is falling apart, we can rest assured that if we devote ourselves to God and truly seek Him out, we will find Him. And when we find him, we realize that all of the other things we've chased before–riches, the big house, perfect relationship, careers, awards, or accolades–don't matter.

For today, take action on seeking the Lord. Spend time with God in the Secret Place away from all distractions. Give him your full attention and a fully devoted heart–you won't be the same!

Prayer: Father God, I long for you just like the psalmist did. I want to know you more, and I want to be known as a fully devoted follower of Jesus. Please show me how to make room for more of you in my daily life, push aside distractions, and give you my full attention. Thank you for your promise that when we seek you with our whole hearts, we will find you. I am ALL IN! In Jesus' name, amen.
