The Deliverer

The book of Exodus shows us a God who hears, sees, and rescues. Israel, enslaved in Egypt for generations, cried out in their suffering. God did not remain distant; He came down to deliver them. He raised up Moses as His chosen servant, but the true Deliverer was always God Himself.

The Passover became the defining act of salvation in Israel’s history. On that night, the blood of the lamb marked the homes of God’s people, and judgment passed over them. They were saved, not by their strength, but by God’s power and mercy. The Red Sea crossing sealed their deliverance, as God parted the waters and swallowed up their enemies.

These events were not only historical but also prophetic. John the Baptist looked at Jesus and declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Paul reminds us that Christ is our Passover lamb. Just as Israel was spared by the blood on their doorposts, we are saved by the blood of Christ.

The Exodus story points us to the greater salvation found in Jesus. He delivers us from slavery to sin, rescues us from judgment, and leads us into freedom. The God who fought for Israel is the same God who fights for us, and His victory is secure through the cross and resurrection.

When we feel trapped by fear or sin, we can look back at the God who split the sea and remember: He still makes a way. He still redeems. And one day, He will bring us into the true Promised Land, where we will dwell with Him forever.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that You hear my cries and see my suffering. Thank You for Jesus, my Deliverer, who shed His blood so I could be spared from judgment and brought into freedom. Help me to trust that You are fighting for me, even when I cannot see the way forward. Lead me into the life You have promised. Amen.
