DAY 58 OF 60

Romans 16
Watch Out for Division

After his long list of greetings and encouragements, Paul gives one final warning: “Watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way.” It’s a reminder that not every disagreement is harmless, and not every voice should be followed.

Division is subtle. It often comes cloaked in concern, in half-truths, in personalities more than theology. But Paul urges the church to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil. He’s not calling for naivety—he’s calling for discernment. Protect the unity of the church. Stay grounded in the truth of Jesus. Don’t be swayed by smooth talk or flattery.

There’s a real enemy behind division. But Paul doesn’t leave us fearful—he speaks hope: “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” That’s a promise. Not because we’re strong, but because Christ is victorious.

It’s easy to listen to voices that stir frustration or gossip. But Paul’s charge is clear: stay alert. Don’t let what Christ built be undone by sideways energy. The call is to unity, to truth, to peace. And the God of peace will make sure that peace has the final word.
