Love God Greatly - From Beginning to Forever: Tracing God’s Unchanging Loveનમૂનો

Week 1 / Beginnings
Made in God’s Image
Read: Genesis 2:4-25; Genesis 1:26-27
SOAP: Genesis 1:26-27
"Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness, so they may rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move on the earth.”
God created humankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them,
male and female he created them." (NET)
Into the Text
Out of all of God’s creation, mankind is the pinnacle. On the sixth day, when man was created, God said it was very good.
Genesis chapter two goes into greater detail about God’s creation of mankind. God took the dust of the ground, formed Adam, and breathed life into him. He did the same when He created Eve from one of Adam’s ribs.
Genesis 1:26-27 states that we are made in God’s image. This means that we are reflections of God’s character. We are eternal beings as God is. With that, we have been given the capacity to have a relationship with God.
This was possible for Adam and Eve before sin entered the world. Now, we have to place our trust in the saving work of Jesus in order to be restored back to a relationship with our holy God.
Though the image of God has been marred because of sin, it has not been destroyed. We are still created with intention and purpose and have a command to be fruitful and multiply, to subdue the earth, and to reflect God in all that we do.
God has given humanity the option to choose whether to love and follow Him or not. He wants to have a relationship with you. That’s why you were created. Don’t miss out on the greatest relationship you could ever know or experience.
Prayer
God, thank you for creating me in your image. Help me to reflect your character to those around me. May you continue to work within me through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
