DAY 3 OF 7

Struggles often feel like a lonely battlefield, especially for someone caught in the grip of addiction. To put this into perspective, imagine being like the Israelites standing on the edge of the Jordan River, ready to enter a land filled with unknown challenges. Exhausted and uncertain, they faced a battle ahead that seemed overwhelming. In the midst of that chaos, it was easy for them to wonder if God truly saw them, if anyone cared, or if help would ever come.

But just as God promised Moses that He Himself would go before the people, destroying their enemies and leading them into the Promised Land, so too does God walk ahead of those struggling, preparing the way and fighting battles on their behalf.

When Moses handed leadership over to Joshua, it was a reminder that God's presence wasn’t tied to a person. God would still lead. God would still stay. In the same way, healing and recovery aren’t about the strength of a sponsor, a system, or sheer willpower. They are rooted in the unwavering truth that “the Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV).

That means that no one has to pretend they’re okay when they’re not. No one has to muscle through darkness alone. Instead, we can trust that the sun will rise the next morning, and that He will open our eyes to see it.

Recovery is a journey. Some days are harder than others. But today, you can lean into this truth: You are not alone. You never were. And you never will be.

God, some days this journey feels impossible. I feel tired and weak, and I’m unsure if I can keep going. Today, I ask that You help me lean into Your presence. Remind me that You’re here, that You’re for me, and that You’re not leaving. Amen.
