How to Find Peace in God

DAY 3 OF 3

How to be a Peacemaker

Peace isn’t passive. It’s not about staying silent, playing nice, or keeping things comfortable. According to Jesus, being a peacemaker is a defining mark of someone who belongs to God: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Peacemaking is active. It steps into division with gentleness and it moves toward conflict with wisdom. James 3 tells us that real, godly wisdom produces a harvest of peace—it’s full of mercy, sincerity, and grace. That kind of peace isn’t something we muster up on our own. It’s fruit that grows in us through the Holy Spirit.

When God’s peace lives in us, it transforms how we speak, how we respond, and how we forgive. And it empowers us to bring calm where there’s chaos, healing where there’s hurt, and understanding where there’s anger.

So, what does peacemaking look like in your everyday life? It might be choosing to listen instead of arguing. It could mean apologizing first. Or it may look like praying for someone you disagree with instead of criticizing them.

God didn’t give you peace just to protect it. He gave it to you so you could share it.

Identify one relationship or environment that feels tense or divided. Ask God to show you one small way you can bring peace there today—whether it’s sending a kind message, choosing not to gossip, or praying before a difficult conversation. Then take that step.

Over the past few days, we’ve seen that peace isn’t something we earn or manufacture, it’s a gift from a Person, the presence of Jesus Christ Himself. Peace anchors us in life’s hardest moments and empowers us to become peacemakers in a hurting world.

You don’t have to chase peace anymore. If you have Jesus, you already have it. So keep leaning in, keep trusting, and keep sharing the peace of God wherever you go.

Reflect or Discuss

  • Where do you see a need for peace in your life or relationships?
  • What might it cost you to be a peacemaker, and why is it still worth it?

Pray

Dear God, You are a God of peace. Make me a person who brings peace to my world. Give me courage, grace, and wisdom to be a peacemaker in my family, friendships, and community. In the name of Jesus, amen.
