Restoring our relationship with God through Jesus

As a child of God, you have a distinguished position with God. To fully understand that position, it is good to realize what Jesus restored when He went on the cross and rose from the dead.

The Bible describes in Matthew 18:11:
“For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.”

Not “whom,” but “which”...
Which is lost because of the Fall is our “position” with the Father. The relationship, the 'intimacy' that Adam and Eve had with God in Paradise before the Fall, was lost. And Jesus came to restore that.

God chose and predestined us before the foundation of the world to be adopted as His children (Ephesians 1:3-6). Before He created the heavens and the earth, the flowers and the bees, He already knew He would make and place man in the world. A man with whom He could have a relationship, whom He could be close to.

Adam, the first man, and God walked through the garden together. There was nothing between them, no distance, no broken connection. There was free access. That was possible because Adam was created in God's likeness. He had the same spirit as God. A perfect, sinless spirit. That's why God could walk with Adam, because God cannot be in a place of sin.

That sinless spirit died when Adam and Eve sinned, but thanks to Jesus' sacrifice, we can receive it again when we accept Jesus. That's why Jesus' sacrifice was so important. Because of this, your spirit is born again of an imperishable seed (1 Peter 1:23). This means that you are born of God and therefore receive His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

Jesus is the restorer of all that!! He made an unobstructed relationship with God possible again. He made sure you, as a child, have direct access to the Father. For this you do not have to go through all kinds of cleansing processes and enter the holy of holies, hoping that you are completely pure. No, Jesus has made you clean, pure, and spotless.

How does that sound?

Would you also like to walk with God like Adam? Want to talk to Him? Approach Him openly and freely? Like a father in closeness to his children? A father who wants an intimate and deep connection with his children.

It’s possible.

It is God's plan for this to be possible. Maybe you don't know this closeness with your own earthly father; know that God wants it. God is love, and He wants to give it to you.

Thanks to Jesus, God can be “in us” again. We can be one with our Creator again, just as Adam and Eve were. Hallelujah!
