There's Hope For Today

DAY 334 OF 366

Have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior?

Yes? Wonderful! Have you been baptized? What’s that you say … “You’re praying about it?” You don’t have to pray about water baptism. It is not an option. Baptism is a commandment.

You wouldn’t pray about whether you should commit adultery or not, would you? Of course not ... adultery is clearly covered in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:14). Baptism is covered in Jesus’ final instruction to the church (Mark 16:16). It is a commandment; a first step. Everybody knows how important first steps are to a process or relationship. If we neglect God’s prescribed course for life, should it be any wonder that life doesn’t seem to work? If I leave a few footings out of the foundation, should I be surprised when the house caves in?

When you came to Christ and accepted His offer of salvation, the man you used to be died, and a new man was born. The corpse of the old man is to be buried in the waters of baptism (Romans 6:4). It is no wonder that many among us are spiritually weary and constantly struggling. Who wouldn’t be exhausted after a few days or years of dragging around a corpse? If you’ve missed the first step, see your pastor. Be baptized.
