May 26 – Avoiding Misinterpretation
Misinterpretation occurs when Scripture is wrongly understood or applied. This often results from ignoring context, neglecting the role of the Spirit, or forcing personal opinions into the text.
This matters because a wrong interpretation leads to wrong belief and wrong practice. Accurate understanding is essential for sound doctrine and spiritual growth.
When misinterpretation is not addressed, error spreads. People become confident in wrong ideas and may influence others. This leads to confusion and doctrinal instability.
DAILY EXERCISE
Revisit a belief you hold. Check if it is clearly supported by Scripture in context or not.
PRAYER
Father, keep me from misinterpreting Your Word. Give me humility and accuracy in understanding Scripture. I pray for leaders, teachers, students, and believers across Nigeria that they will handle Your Word correctly. Lord, we ask that across nations, error will be corrected and truth established. Strengthen the Church worldwide in sound understanding.
CONFESSION
I handle the Word of God correctly. I understand Scripture with accuracy and truth.
