DAY 1 OF 5

EVERYTHING IS AHEAD

Nostalgia has a way of disguising itself as faithfulness. But if we’re not careful, longing for what was will keep us from seeing what could be. To move forward with God, there are moments when we must intentionally separate from the past, good or bad, because it can no longer lead us where God is taking us. Everything God is doing is ahead, not behind.

God is always moving His people, and you’ve likely sensed it—a restlessness, a holy discomfort, a shift you can’t fully name. God doesn’t just want you to observe where you are; He wants you to believe in where He’s leading you, fixing your focus on what’s ahead even when the present feels uncertain.

Vision begins with awareness, not clarity. In the Transformation Church sermon “Vision is Most Valuable,” we are reminded that sight notices what’s visible, but vision recognizes what’s coming. When God brought the Israelites out of captivity into freedom, He didn’t leave footprints behind for them to revisit. The path forward was intentional. Though it was the greatest miracle they had ever seen, God still removed familiar markers. We can’t confuse remembrance with direction. What God has done matters, but it was never meant to replace where He’s going.

There are seasons when God gives you a vision others can’t see. That can feel lonely. But clarity sometimes requires clearing your surroundings. Vision often requires releasing comfort, and many of us resist movement because familiarity feels safer than faith.

But here’s the truth: you have not seen the greatest works God wants to do in your life. Everything He’s promised is still ahead. Forward is not something you graduate into. It’s something God continues to call you toward.

You must become a professional forgetter. That doesn't mean ignore your past, but stop letting it keep you hostage. Forgetting is the prerequisite for vision. You are not just called. God is still calling you forward.

Reflection:

Where might nostalgia be keeping you from embracing vision?

What has God already begun stirring in you, even if you don’t fully see it yet?

Prayer:

God, give me vision beyond what I can see right now. Help me release attachment to the past and trust where You are leading me. I choose faith over familiarity and obedience over comfort. I believe You are still calling me forward, and I’m ready to move. In Jesus’ name, amen!
