Sitting, Serving, Scheming (S4-E5)

DAY 4 OF 4

A gift

In this scene, someone sends a gift to support Jesus and His ministry. It is a gift meant to do good, to make a difference, and to help move things forward.

There are many ways to take part in God’s Kingdom work.

You can go yourself; do or create something that honors God. Or you can help make it possible for others through prayer, encouragement, or giving something tangible like money or resources.

In Scripture, Jesus invites us to give. Sometimes that means big things: like leaving behind a career to follow Him. Sometimes it means offering your time and energy. Other times it’s a simple, quiet invitation to open your wallet and share what you have.

Here are a few things to think about when it comes to giving:

Your Heart

Someone once said, “Show me your calendar and your bank statement, and I’ll show you what truly matters to you.” That’s true, isn’t it? We spend our time and resources on what we value most. So where is your heart directed? Where are you investing your resources?

Your Choice

In 2 Corinthians, Paul writes, “Each one should give what they have decided in their heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion.” God is not impressed by the size of your gift but by the heart behind it. He sees your motive and values your willingness.

Your Joy

Paul also reminds us that we should be cheerful. It is not only a blessing for the one who receives it but also for the one who gives. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” When you give with joy, you reflect the heart of the ultimate Giver.

So give with joy, with gladness, with a smile on your face. And enjoy how your gift becomes a blessing in someone else’s life.

So give with gladness. Give with purpose. And enjoy how your generosity becomes a glimpse of God’s love in someone else’s life.

Reflection Questions

  • Are you a giver?
  • What do you give, and to whom or what? (Time, energy, money, encouragement?)
  • How do you give? With joy or out of obligation?
  • What is Jesus calling you to give?

Prayer

Lord, help me to be a joyful and generous giver; someone who blesses others and passes on what I’ve received. Give me a wide, open, and cheerful heart. And through my giving, Lord, may Your Kingdom grow. Remind me that it’s always about You. Amen.
