Overbooked & OverwhelmedNäide

Let’s make it our aim to reach the end of our days and hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). I once rather preferred to hear the words, “Well done, good and successful servant,” or “Well done, good and famous servant,” but none of that matters more than faithfulness. None of that matters more than how I manage and steward the areas of my life well for the Lord.
When we switch from living overwhelmed to living consistently faithful, it changes everything. It reminds us that we have been deemed stewards—managers and agents of change—over the lives that God—the owner and our Master—has given us. That is wonderfully weighty work. When we grasp the reality that heaven is real and Jesus is the greatest treasure, it causes us to stop living distracted, weighed down, and in a hurry.
The Creator of the Universe—the Creator of you and the One who sent His Son to take your place—is completely, utterly, and absolutely committed to you. He is the most faithful friend, Father, and helper. Just thinking about His everlasting, no-strings-attached love brings me to tears, and it brings me to my knees. And because He is all in for me, I want to be all in for Him. The faithfulness of God inspires me to be faithful right back with my everyday habits and routines.
So the next time you’re tempted to numb out and push Him out, the next time you’re feeling so overwhelmed by your life that you break down in tears, remember that God is the surest thing you can count on. He is the heartbeat of your life that keeps you steady when everything else is shaking. And because of that foundation, you and I can find the strength to keep going and show up with the small acts of faith that actually add up to something big.
Prayer
Lord, I am humbled and in awe of Your greatness and Your love for me. Please help me keep my focus on You no matter how difficult life gets. Thank You for being my firm foundation. Amen.
