Unleashed by Kingdom Power and Authority

The kingdom of God refers to God’s rule or authority—that is, a sphere of divine jurisdiction from which He reigns. Absolutely nothing sits outside of God’s comprehensive kingdom rule. Each of us sits beneath His rule, governed by Him. Believers have been chosen by Him to help advance His kingdom’s agenda. The kingdom agenda can be defined as the visible manifestation of the comprehensive rule of God over every area of life. When you and I choose to live according to God’s kingdom rule and agenda, we receive empowerment from on high.

When Jesus began His ministry by saying “the kingdom of God is at hand” (Mark 1:15, NASB1995), He meant that God’s kingdom—His rule, power and authority—is within close proximity to each of us. When Jesus Christ came to Earth and sojourned on our planet, He brought the kingdom near to us all. Upon His resurrection, He left the Holy Spirit so the kingdom of God and all it contains would always be accessible and close by. To unleash the power of God throughout every area of your life, first comes through a conscious, intentional alignment under His rule. When you live in alignment under God and His rule, He is near enough for you to tap into all He has to offer you.

The reason why Jesus taught so comprehensively and consistently on the kingdom of God is so that His followers would carry on this teaching. He wanted His followers to have a truth filter through which to evaluate and respond to the world’s strategies and ways of thought. Without a standard, we are prone to wander, and we no longer tap into the power, authority, peace and favor of God Himself through Jesus Christ, His Son.

Acknowledging the kingdom of God as your reality is crucial to understanding how to unleash God’s power in your life. Under God’s rule and in His kingdom, you are to follow His lead. It is the Holy Spirit’s role to transform us into the likeness of Christ and empower us to do the work of God (see Romans 8:26-29; Acts 1:6-8). It is only when you embrace this truth and live as a kingdom disciple that you will unleash the full experience of God and His will in your life.

When you invest in your spiritual life according to the principles of Scripture, you’ll unleash a greater level of kingdom authority in your life. Kingdom authority is the divinely authorized right and responsibility God bequeaths to believers in order for us to exercise and experience His rule and power while on earth. Everyone who is saved for eternity does not experience the same level of power from God. This is due to differing levels of kingdom commitment. God is not going to force His power or His authority on us, but He’s designed each of us with the capacity to receive increases in spiritual power and authority for His kingdom’s sake.

Faith is the access point into kingdom authority. If you don’t know God through His Son Jesus Christ, then you do not have an authoritative faith. It’s important to remember that to experience God’s unleashing authority within you, you cannot rely on your own senses. You must rely on God—on what is true about Him, His character and His Word. Then you can speak with His authority into any situation, to any challenge or obstacle, and His kingdom will be built by His power.

Prayer

Father in heaven, thank You that Your kingdom is at hand. It is only through the death and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus, that Your kingdom power and authority have been brought to earth. And I know that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that Your kingdom power and authority can be unleashed in and through my life. I surrender my life to You and choose to align my life with Your will. I ask that You empower me to follow Your agenda faithfully. Amen.
