From the bearers of the law (the angels), the author now moves to the man who was to teach the law and implement it in daily life: Moses. He compares this leader of God’s people with Jesus, the true and greater Apostle and High Priest.
Moses was a faithful servant of God, who delivered God’s law to the people of Israel. He was like a steward, caring for God’s house. Jesus, however, is more than just a steward. He is the architect who designed and built God’s house (the church). As the Son of God, He is inseparably connected with this house.
We, the believers, are part of this house of God. As such, we are called to be faithful, just as Moses and Jesus were. But our faithfulness is rooted in an even greater hope: the hope of eternal glory with God.
Reflection
The architect Himself dwells in the house and helps us. What a wonderful privilege we have with the church!
