The Passion

DAY 56 OF 57

There's something special about mountains. Their peaks sit above the hustle and bustle of our lives. There’s peace, the view, the perspective.

In the Bible, mountains take on a greater significance because they're often the meeting place between God and His people.

Abraham took Isaac up a mountain in obedience to God.

Moses met with God on a mountain.

Elijah heard God's voice on a mountain.

Jesus would go to the mountains to pray.

Now Jesus, who at this point has accomplished all He set out to do on earth - lived the perfect life, fulfilled all righteousness, been wrongfully arrested, unjustly tried, died for the sins of all those who would trust in Him, and risen again - tells His disciples to meet Him on a mountain.

We know something important is going to go down. That's exactly what happens. Jesus gives His final charge: The Great Commission.

It's a commission to make disciples through baptising and teaching. It's a bold mission to a group of just eleven disciples, some of whom are feeling doubtful.

But here, Jesus gives His disciples words of incredible encouragement. Jesus promises them His presence: "Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20, ESV)

Jesus has been with His people ever since. Jesus is with you right now.

Let Jesus' promise and presence overwhelm your fear and doubts. Let Jesus' promise and presence re-order your priorities today. You are called to make disciples.

Today, ponder this: Jesus is going with you into all you have on today. How can His presence hold you today, and help you to take every opportunity to make disciples?

About this Plan

The Passion

Journey along through Matthew chapters 21 - 28, tracing Jesus’ final days from His entry into Jerusalem to His resurrection. Each devotion unpacks the urgency, sacrifice, and triumph of Christ’s mission, revealing the depth of God’s love and the cost of redemption. Reflect on the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the cross, and the empty tomb whilst encountering Jesus in His suffering and ultimate glory. Whether preparing for Easter or seeking a fresh perspective, The Passion seeks to stir hearts to know Jesus and make Jesus known with hope, boldness, and passion.
