Body of Christ

DAY 5 OF 5

To Love and Good Works

As God’s people, gathering together isn’t just a good idea – it’s crucial for our spiritual health. One of the key reasons scripture gives is this: we meet to stir one another up to love and good works. Nowhere else in the world do we receive the kind of encouragement that lifts our eyes to Christ and moves our hands to serve His people. We often don’t realise how much we need encouragement just to keep going – whether it’s facing the pressures of work, pursuing our dreams, or enduring the trials of everyday life. Even as Christians who have God, we are not self-sufficient. Motivation is rarely self-generated. We all need that positive input – that Spirit-filled urging – that keeps us moving forward.

That’s why this kind of stirring up – this Gospel-shaped encouragement – is so important. In fact, it’s meant to be intentional. The word ‘consider’ calls us to think carefully about how we can do this well. Every time we gather – whether on Sundays or during the week – we have an opportunity to strengthen one another in love and action. So if you’re ever unsure of your role when you show up at church or meet with God’s people, remember this: you’re there to help stir others toward Christ-like love and faithful good works. You’re a vital part of the encouragement God’s people need – and they’re a vital part of yours.

How can you do that today, and every time you meet with God’s people?

About this Plan

Body of Christ

We may all look different, talk different and have different dreams, but we have all been created in the image of God. As believers, we are invited to become members of the Body of Christ, and this Bible plan gives us some ideas of how this might look as we interact with family, friends and the wider community, whilst maintaining our God given individuality.
