Fighting Injustice With Art and FaithNäide

Lament is often seen as a private act of grieving, but it can be much more.
The powerful collision of deep sorrow with a call for justice is evident in literary traditions, including the Bible. The Psalmist, as we read in today's verse, shared his deep pain and couldn't be silent about praying for God to set things right.
The verse reminds us that our tears are not just for ourselves, but can be a powerful catalyst for change. And it encourages us, especially when we suffer, that we are not alone.
Sometimes we can be afraid to share the deep pain we experience, or talk to God about it. But today's verse gives us words to speak.
The passage is so honest about the reality of suffering and trouble that we experience in our earthly journey. But it doesn't stop there.
The presence and goodness of God changes everything. The truth of who He is changes our outlook, even when we face great evil or terrible situations.
There is always reason to hope. God's love is unfailing and his salvation is real. No matter what we face, honestly acknowledging our pain, and speaking the truth about who God is, is a powerful way to praise.
Action Point:
Consider a situation in your life that causes you grief. How can you transform that grief into a prayer, a statement, an action that calls for justice and healing?

About this Plan

Long ago, a writer named Hannah More used her poems to help end slavery. Another writer, Alexandr Solzhenitsyn, wrote stories that showed how terrible forced labor was in his country. Just like them, today's artists can use the gifts God has given them combined with the truth of God's word to make a difference in the world. This plan will encourage you to use your God-given talents to stand up for truth and help others in need.
