Coming to Life: 30-Day Devotional

DAY 21 OF 30

The Word Became Flesh

John’s Gospel begins not with a manger but with eternity: “In the beginning was the Word.” Before time itself, Jesus existed with God and as God. He is the Word through whom all things were made.

The miracle of the incarnation is that this eternal Word became flesh. He didn’t just appear human — He became human. He took on our weakness, our frailty, and entered our world. He “dwelt among us,” literally “tabernacled” with us, echoing God’s presence in the wilderness.

In Jesus, the glory of God is revealed, not in fire and cloud but in grace and truth. Paul describes Him as the image of the invisible God, the one in whom all things hold together. The writer of Hebrews calls Him the radiance of God’s glory.

The incarnation is the ultimate act of God’s love — not only to reveal Himself but to redeem us. Jesus became what we are so that we might be restored to what we were created to be: children of God.

The story ends where it began: with God dwelling with His people. Revelation shows the ultimate fulfillment — the dwelling place of God with man. The incarnation was the beginning of that eternal reality.

To see Jesus is to see God. To know Him is to know life itself.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does the truth that “the Word became flesh” deepen your understanding of God’s love?
  2. What does it mean for you that God chose not to remain distant but came near in Christ?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the eternal Word made flesh. Thank You for humbling Yourself to dwell among us. Help me to see Your glory, full of grace and truth, and to live with the hope of Your eternal presence. Amen.

The Bible isn’t just a collection of stories—it’s one story, and it all points to one Savior. It all ties together! This 30-day journey won’t give you every answer, but it will help you see how God’s Word comes alive in His love, His promises, and His plan. My prayer is that as you read, you’ll find yourself coming to life in Him.
