30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

DAY 4 OF 30

God, teach us to walk in humility, patience, and gentleness.

Marriage is one of God’s most powerful tools for sanctifying us, shaping us more into the likeness of Christ. No other earthly relationship tests our hearts, tempers, and tendencies quite like this one. And yet, in the midst of that challenge, God’s Word offers all we need to navigate marriage in a way that honors him and strengthens the covenant we’ve made.

We are called to mirror the life of Jesus in every aspect of our marriage, in how we serve, speak, love, endure, and even in how we face conflict. We pursue humility because Christ humbled himself for us. In Philippians 2:5–8 (NIV) we see that Christ “humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross.”

We choose gentleness because his love is never harsh but kind and gracious. We practice patience because our God is endlessly patient, with mercies new every morning.

In marriage, let’s seek to live out Ephesians 4:2 (NIV) by being humble, gentle, and patient. As we do this, our prayer is that our spouse would see him alive in us, and that the world would too.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, help us today to put on gentleness and patience, kindness and love. May our hearts be softened by your spirit so that we can reflect the love of Christ in our marriage, in our home, and in the world around us. Let our lives be a testimony of your grace and goodness, starting with how we love one another. Amen.

About this Plan

30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
