30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

DAY 12 OF 30

Lord, let us be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

Have you ever prayed for the way you and your spouse handle conflict or difficult conversations? In the heat of the moment, we have the opportunity to match the frustration and tension of the situation or we can choose to meet the moment with a listening ear, a kind heart, and a willing spirit…a spirit willing to believe the best about our spouse, remove any preconceived notions we have about their motives, and be prepared to hear from their heart. It’s vital that anger becomes a last resort instead of our first response.

You and your spouse are a team and it will strengthen your connection and all the other aspects of your marriage if the two of you can live out James 1:19’s (NIV) call to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, today we pray that we can use the encouragement of James as the standard for how we communicate with one another. We want to listen intently, speak with integrity and gentleness and prevent anger from dividing our marriage. Lord, would you help us!

About this Plan

30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriage

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
