Beyond the BattlefieldNäide

Steadfast means “firm, unwavering, and resolute in faith, loyalty, or commitment.” It describes both God’s unchanging nature and promises and the unwavering faithfulness of believers. This word emphasizes strength and stability in the face of challenges. This doesn’t mean that our circumstances will suddenly feel peaceful, that all our relationship troubles and hardships will disappear, or that all the prayers we pray will be answered immediately. But our minds can be steadied with God’s truth instead of overrun with thoughts of fear, anxiety, and worst-case scenarios. The God who rescued David from Saul, who split the Red Sea so the Israelites could safely pass through, and who promised strength to His people through Isaiah, is the same God you can trust with your life. God is always doing more than you know, working toward a good you’ll one day rejoice in.
Looking to our feelings to steady ourselves is dangerous ground. Why? Because our feelings are fragile props that will fall to the ground with a very light push. Instead, we need to anchor ourselves—steady ourselves—with the truth in God’s Word.
