Nehemiah's Response to CrisisNäide

Prepared for the Moment
Nehemiah made the most of the opportunity when it came his way. It wasn’t a stroke of luck—it was the fruit of consistent prayer and careful preparation. He had done his homework. That’s why, when the king asked him for details, Nehemiah could respond without hesitation.
Imagine the tragedy if Nehemiah had no answer when the king asked what he needed. But instead, we see a man ready with specifics. He knew what had to be done—and he boldly asked for everything required.
The king granted all that Nehemiah requested. That tells us something important: Nehemiah had earned trust and influence. He was reliable and efficient—qualities essential for someone in the position of cupbearer to the king.
When Nehemiah finally reaches the outskirts of Jerusalem, he doesn’t rush in. Instead, he surveys the city quietly before beginning the task. This mindset—to observe, assess, and prepare—made Nehemiah a calm and effective leader, even in crisis. He didn’t panic, because he had already planned.
Let’s Ponder
Do we carry influence like Nehemiah in our workplace, campus, or community?
Are we known as trustworthy and efficient?
More importantly—are we preparing ourselves for the tasks God has placed before us? How’s our homework?
