The Chosen and Friends: God With UsNäide

Even Some Left Over
From Cru
As the sun was setting on a long day, thousands of people followed Jesus into the countryside, hanging on His every word. But now hunger was setting in, and the disciples saw an impossible problem: too many peopleand not nearly enough food. But then a boy stepped forward with a simple offering—five loaves of bread and two fish. It wasn’t much, but in the hands of Jesus, it became the beginning of a miracle that is recounted in all four of the Gospels. (Matthew 14:13–21, Mark 6:30–44, Luke 9:12–17, and John 6:5–15)
In The Chosen, this moment is brought to life in a very meaningful way. Jesus doesn’t just perform the miracle quietly; He involves His disciples. He gives them specific instructions: “Divide the people into groups. Collect twelve baskets. Distribute the food.” The miracle still came from Him, but the disciples got to participate in it. That’s the beauty of how Jesus works: He invites you to trust Him, to take steps of obedience, and to witness firsthand how He multiplies what you place in His hands.
This story reminds you that with God, nothing is wasted. A boy’s small lunch became a banquet. The disciples’ doubts turned into baskets overflowing with food. And the crowd’s hunger was satisfied not only physically, but spiritually, too, pointing to the greater reality that Jesus Himself is the Bread of Life.
When you offer God what you have—even if it feels small—He provides more than enough, with even some left over.
