REFOCUS MY IDENTITY + WORTH
As we step into Day 2 of our journey to refocus, we’re reminded of a beautiful tension: on our own, we are dust, yet we are full of worth and called heirs with Christ. Our value isn’t based on experiences, self-perception, or people. It’s solely based on how God sees us.
Today, we’re asking God to refocus our view of who we are. That might come with humility and healing. It might also come with the reminder that you have a seat at the King’s table. Do you know what it doesn’t come with? Comparison. In the sermon A Distraction Named David, we learn we become distracted when we compare ourselves to others.
At the core of our identity is this truth: we are uniquely made in God’s image. We were created to mirror the nature of God, not other people. You are one of one, but we forget when we measure greatness by how others receive us. Saul lost his unique identity when he obsessed over people praising David. Our identity as children of God is wrapped in His character, not in others. You can’t know who you are without knowing who He is.
Knowing our unique identity, we must remember: we came from dust. It’s only by His breath that we live. Knowing this keeps us humble, open, and transparent. Our worth is not self-made; it’s God-given.
Today, we ask Him to refocus our identity and worth—not based on what we’ve done or what others have done, but on what God has said.
Application/ Reflection
Take time today to read and meditate on today's scriptures. To meditate here means to reflect deeply—holding God’s truth alongside your real life. As you do, consider these questions:
- Do my decisions reflect that I’m made in God’s image?
- Am I comparing myself to others and letting that distract me from embracing who God says I am?
- What is God saying to me today about who I am?
As you quiet yourself in His presence, invite Him to speak into those places. He will.
Prayer
God, thank You for calling me Your child no matter how great or small I feel today. As I spend time with You, remind me of my identity and value based on who You say I am. On my best days and worst days, that truth doesn’t change. Thank You for continually teaching me who I am in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
About this Plan

Not all distractions are obvious; some are subtle shifts that allow you to drift without even realizing it. The good news? We can refocus. Hebrews 12:1-2 tells us that if we fix our eyes on Jesus then we’ll have the faith to focus. In this 7-day devotional, you’ll pause each day to refocus specific areas of your life and realign with the vision God has for you.
