A Year in Luke/ActsNäide

As Jesus approaches the city, the welcome he is receiving doesn’t seem to impact him too much. He is weeping. He can see what is coming, when this beautiful city will be subject to violence that will scarcely cease.
Notice the key phrase: “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace!” Jesus is so sad that the people are not going to fully accept the implications of his message that would lead to peace. Because they “did not recognize the time of your visitation from God” there are going to be other messianic movements amongst the Jews which will result in the Romans sacking the city and destroying the temple. Jesus knew that if they accepted his way, it didn’t need to be like this and it is easy to see why he is so upset knowing all that would take place.
What would it look like to choose the way of peace today?
