How Do I Embrace Belonging? A 7-Day Journey Through Faith and CommunityNäide

Reminders of Belonging
Focus
Imagine you are on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho and you come across a man who has been attacked by robbers. Sit with what your first instinct would be in response to seeing him. No matter what that initial instinct is, allow yourself to reflect on it before reading today's passage.
Apply
Embodying a spirit of belonging does not always come easily. The world focuses on individual greatness and pride. Living with a spirit of belonging moves against that trend. Yet it is that very spirit that Jesus brings forth and urges us to model. How can you share the spirit of belonging with others whom the world says should not belong?
Respond
Jesus, when the spirit of belonging does not come easily for me, remind me of the Good Samaritan. Remind me that no matter who I come across on the road of life, all are called to the mercy, love, and compassion that the spirit of belonging encompasses.
