Tradition and Change
In today's verses, we will analyze the relationship between tradition and change. One of the oldest traditions of humanity is the tradition of making sacrifices and offerings. The Bible tells us that Abel offered a sacrifice from his flock to God, and He accepted it.
When God sent the tenth plague to Egypt, He instituted the tradition of Passover, where a lamb was sacrificed. However, at some point, the people of Israel faced a new situation, such as when Solomon's Temple was destroyed. For decades, the temple remained destroyed until it was rebuilt and the offerings resumed. However, after Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, the second temple was also destroyed, and once again the people found themselves in a new situation.
We also have our traditions, and when we are faced with new situations, let us ask God for wisdom to choose between tradition and change.
