Real Hope: Character of GodNäide

Unchanging
Every time I look at my kids, they seem to have grown! It seems like every time I look out my front door, the street we live on is changing. There are new houses going up all the time, more cars on the road and the families living in our street change too. And when I catch up with my friends, they’ve picked up new hobbies, they’ve got new partners or new jobs and they don’t drink tea anymore! Life is so full of change!
One of the things that makes God who He is, is that unlike everything else in creation, He does NOT change! I’m so thankful for this!
God remains the same faithful Father now that He was to Israel. God is still as creative as He was when He made the platypus. God is as powerful as He was when He parted the Red Sea through Moses. God is still as passionate about being in a relationship with you as He was when He gave His only Son for you. How amazing!
For me, in times when the world feels turbulent, out of control, or like it’s moving too fast for me to keep up, God’s unchanging character is a huge comfort to me. It means I can turn to the one I know is faithful, present, loving, kind, generous, able to give peace and comfort, and who loves me at any time, and He will be who I know He is.
If I’m happy, hurting, healthy, sick, anxious, carefree, financially stable, financially struggling, employed, out of work, young or old – God remains the same. So, if I trust Him today, I can still trust Him tomorrow, and that’s amazing!
